- Choose PNG or PSD. Place a PNG to use the full composition. Open a PSD to inspect its layers and editing options; do not assume that every phrase is a separate text layer.
- Size mug artwork to your blank. Use the mug supplier’s printable-area template, preserve the design’s proportions, and check the margins around the handle. Test the fit with plain paper before transferring.
- Match shirt artwork to the fabric. Conventional sublimation is used on compatible garments, typically light-colored fabrics with a high polyester content. Cotton or dark shirts need a transfer system suited to those materials.
- Check print size and mirroring. Inspect the artwork at its final output size and avoid applying mirror settings twice between the software and printer driver.
- Follow the manufacturers’ settings. Time, temperature, and pressure depend on the blank and equipment. Test your setup before making the finished item.
